When normal people happen to “find” their own money, it might mean a twenty left in a winter coat, or discovering change beneath the sofa cushions. But if you’re Charlie Rangel, it means doubling your net worth.
Earlier this month the Chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee “amended” his 2007 financial disclosure form—to the tune of more than a half-million dollars in previously unreported assets and income. That number may be as high as $780,000, because Congress’s ethics rules only require the Members to report their finances within broad ranges. This voyage of personal financial discovery brings Mr. Rangel’s net worth for 2007 to somewhere between $1.028 million and $2.495 million, while his previous statement came in at $516,015 and $1.316 million.
When you’re a powerful Congressman and working diligently to increase tax rates to pay for President Obama’s health-care plan, we suppose it’s easy to lose track of one of your checking accounts. That would be the one at the federal credit union with a balance somewhere between $250,001 and maybe as high as $500,000. And when you’re crunched for time and pulling together bills to pass in a rush, we guess, too, that you might overlook several other investment accounts, even if some of them are sizable, such as the ones Mr. Rangel missed at JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Oppenheimer and BlackRock.
Oh, and those vacant properties in Glassboro, in southern Jersey? Everybody in Manhattan tries not to think much about New Jersey, so those lots and their as-much-as-$15,000 value must also have slipped down the memory hole. (The New York Post reported yesterday that Mr. Rangel failed to pay property taxes for two of the lots, according to the county clerk’s office.)
Associated Press
The Chairman probably isn’t doing a lot of dining at KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell or Long John Silver’s, either, which may explain why he didn’t disclose the $1,001 to $15,000 in stock he owns in Yum Brands, the conglomerate that runs those chain restaurants. Compared to his undisclosed portfolio stake in PepsiCo—$15,001 to $50,000—that’s practically a rounding error.
All lawmakers amend their financial reports from time to time, though rarely are the errors this extensive. Via email, a Rangel spokesman declined to offer details about how the errors occurred, noting that “Once the Ethics Committee completes its work, then we can answer questions in more detail.” He added that Mr. Rangel is now “confident that his records have been subjected to an exhaustive and complete review, and that the amendments accurately reflect his financial interests.”
Among other issues, Mr. Rangel is currently under investigation regarding his use of four rent-stabilized apartments at New York City’s tony Lenox Terrace and soliciting donations with his official letterhead for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at City College of New York, which was itself built with a $1.9 million earmark. Yet another part of the probe is his failure to report $75,000 in income from a rental villa at the beachfront Punta Cana Yacht Club, in the Dominican Republic.
Mr. Rangel blamed that last one on the language barrier because he doesn’t speak Spanish. We can only imagine what language he speaks with his accountants and tax attorneys.
So we are to have a French health-care system without a French tradition of political protest. It is odd that American liberalism, in a veritable state of insurrection during the Bush presidency, now seeks political quiescence. These “townhallers” who have come forth to challenge ObamaCare have been labeled “evil-mongers” (Harry Reid), “un-American” (Nancy Pelosi), agitators and rowdies and worse.
A political class, and a media elite, that glamorized the protest against the Iraq war, that branded the Bush presidency as a reign of usurpation, now wishes to be done with the tumult of political debate. President Barack Obama himself, the community organizer par excellence, is full of lament that the “loudest voices” are running away with the national debate. Liberalism in righteous opposition, liberalism in power: The rules have changed.
It was true to script, and to necessity, that Mr. Obama would try to push through his sweeping program—the change in the health-care system, a huge budget deficit, the stimulus package, the takeover of the automotive industry—in record time. He and his handlers must have feared that the spell would soon be broken, that the coalition that carried Mr. Obama to power was destined to come apart, that a country anxious and frightened in the fall of 2008 could recover its poise and self-confidence. Historically, this republic, unlike the Old World and the command economies of the Third World, had trusted the society rather than the state. In a perilous moment, that balance had shifted, and Mr. Obama was the beneficiary of that shift.
So our new president wanted a fundamental overhaul of the health-care system—17% of our GDP—without a serious debate, and without “loud voices.” It is akin to government by emergency decrees. How dare those townhallers (the voters) heckle Arlen Specter! Americans eager to rein in this runaway populism were now guilty of lèse-majesté by talking back to the political class.
We were led to this summer of discontent by the very nature of the coalition that brought Mr. Obama, and the political class around him, to power, and by the circumstances of his victory. The man was elected amid economic distress. Faith in the country’s institutions, perhaps in the free-enterprise system itself, had given way. Mr. Obama had ridden that distress. His politics of charisma was reminiscent of the Third World. A leader steps forth, better yet someone with no discernible trail, someone hard to pin down to a specific political program, and the crowd could read into him what it wished, what it needed.
The leader would be different things to different people. The Obama coalition was the coming together of disparate groups: the white professional liberals seeking absolution for the country in the election of an African-American man, the opponents of the Iraq war who grew more strident as the project in Iraq was taking root, the African-American community that had been invested in the Clintons and then came around out of an understandable pride in one of its own.
The last segment of the electorate to flock to the Obama banners were the blue-collar workers who delivered him Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana. He was not their man. They fully knew that he didn’t share their culture. They were, by his portrait, clinging to their guns and religion, but the promise of economic help, and of protectionism, carried the day with them.
The Obama devotees were the victims of their own belief in political magic. The devotees could not make up their minds. In a newly minted U.S. senator from Illinois, they saw the embodiment of Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy. Like Lincoln, Mr. Obama was tall and thin and from Illinois, and the historic campaign was launched out of Springfield. The oath of office was taken on the Lincoln Bible. Like FDR, he had a huge economic challenge, and he better get it done, repair and streamline the economy in his “first hundred days.” Like JFK, he was young and stylish, with a young family.
All this hero-worship before Mr. Obama met his first test of leadership. In reality, he was who he was, a Chicago politician who had done well by his opposition to the Iraq war. He had run a skillful campaign, and had met a Clinton machine that had run out of tricks and a McCain campaign that never understood the nature of the contest of 2008.
He was no FDR, and besides the history of the depression—the real history—bears little resemblance to the received narrative of the nation instantly rescued, in the course of 100 days or 200 days, by an interventionist state. The economic distress had been so deep and relentless that FDR began his second term, in 1937, with the economy still in the grip of recession.
Nor was JFK about style. He had known military service and combat, and familial loss; he had run in 1960 as a hawk committed to the nation’s victory in the Cold War. He and his rival, Richard Nixon, shared a fundamental outlook on American power and its burdens.
Now that realism about Mr. Obama has begun to sink in, these iconic figures of history had best be left alone. They can’t rescue the Obama presidency. Their magic can’t be his. Mr. Obama isn’t Lincoln with a BlackBerry. Those great personages are made by history, in the course of history, and not by the spinners or the smitten talking heads.
In one of the revealing moments of the presidential campaign, Mr. Obama rightly observed that the Reagan presidency was a transformational presidency in a way Clinton’s wasn’t. And by that Reagan precedent, that Reagan standard, the faults of the Obama presidency are laid bare. Ronald Reagan, it should be recalled, had been swept into office by a wave of dissatisfaction with Jimmy Carter and his failures. At the core of the Reagan mission was the recovery of the nation’s esteem and self-regard. Reagan was an optimist. He was Hollywood glamour to be sure, but he was also Peoria, Ill. His faith in the country was boundless, and when he said it was “morning in America” he meant it; he believed in America’s miracle and had seen it in his own life, in his rise from a child of the Depression to the summit of political power.
The failure of the Carter years was, in Reagan’s view, the failure of the man at the helm and the policies he had pursued at home and abroad. At no time had Ronald Reagan believed that the American covenant had failed, that America should apologize for itself in the world beyond its shores. There was no narcissism in Reagan. It was stirring that the man who headed into the sunset of his life would bid his country farewell by reminding it that its best days were yet to come.
In contrast, there is joylessness in Mr. Obama. He is a scold, the “Yes we can!” mantra is shallow, and at any rate, it is about the coming to power of a man, and a political class, invested in its own sense of smarts and wisdom, and its right to alter the social contract of the land. In this view, the country had lost its way and the new leader and the political class arrayed around him will bring it back to the right path.
Thus the moment of crisis would become an opportunity to push through a political economy of redistribution and a foreign policy of American penance. The independent voters were the first to break ranks. They hadn’t underwritten this fundamental change in the American polity when they cast their votes for Mr. Obama.
American democracy has never been democracy by plebiscite, a process by which a leader is anointed, then the populace steps out of the way, and the anointed one puts his political program in place. In the American tradition, the “mandate of heaven” is gained and lost every day and people talk back to their leaders. They are not held in thrall by them. The leaders are not infallible or a breed apart. That way is the Third World way, the way it plays out in Arab and Latin American politics.
Those protesters in those town-hall meetings have served notice that Mr. Obama’s charismatic moment has passed. Once again, the belief in that American exception that set this nation apart from other lands is re-emerging. Health care is the tip of the iceberg. Beneath it is an unease with the way the verdict of the 2008 election was read by those who prevailed. It shall be seen whether the man swept into office in the moment of national panic will adjust to the nation’s recovery of its self-confidence.

H/T to “Donna” one very condescending reader for dropping the link for this great video in the comment section of a previous post….
Liberal bloggers at Huffpo and blackpoliticalthought (because we are all supposed to think the same thoughts, you see) are busy disparaging Bishop Jackson and accusing him of perpetuating “misinformation”. Matthew Palevsky (Huffington Post) writes “Bishop Jackson continued by picking up on a common misnomer that the right invented and then railed against, spending tax dollars to pay for abortions.” Good grief…I guess Mr. Palevsky and “DAD” (Dumb-AZZ-Donna, the condescending elitist reader), typical Obama drones have fallen for the semantic tricks of President Obama and the leftist demon-crats. Yes, it is factual that the Senate’s healthcare proposal does not specifically mandate abortion but what these deceptive azz-wipes fail to mention is that anytime Congress fails to exclude funding for abortion it is always included. Case and point, for the last 13 years no federal dollars were have been used to fund abortions in the District of Columbia because pro-life lawmakers specifically excluded abortion funding in the DC spending bill — that is until this year. The demon-crats successfully removed the exclusion so now your tax dollars are being used to kill off black babies otherwise known as genocide. Yes, I’m aware that I’m not suppose to follow the ramifications of that through to the logical conclusion because that makes me a “right wing loon” or worse. It fascinates me how this is lost on the “fight the power” “power to the people” types. I guess they trust the government now….because we have a black(ish) president and all.
I wonder how many religious leaders fell for President Obama’s “ethical and moral obligation” crap yesterday as he urged them to get behind this abominable plan? Too many I fear. But Obama is right it is a moral obligation. We are our brother’s keeper — so the government should leave it to us.
President Obama and his leftist posse should also tell the truth about the 47 million uninsured….
47 Million Uninsured: Truth or Propaganda?
President Barack Obama claims there are 47 million Americans without health insurance. A simple check with the U.S. Census Bureau would have told him otherwise.
The President said: “This is not just about the 47 million Americans who have no health insurance.” That assertion conflicts with data in the Census Bureau report “Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2007.” The report was issued in August 2008 and contains the most up-to-date official data on the number of uninsured in the U.S. The report discloses that there were 45.65 million people in the U.S. who did not have health insurance in 2007.
However, it also reveals that there were 9.73 million foreigners — foreign-born non-citizens who were in the country in 2007 — included in that number. So the number of uninsured Americans was actually 35.92 million. And of those, 9.1 million people making more than $75,000 per year did not choose to purchase health insurance. That brings the number of Americans who lack health insurance presumably for financial reasons down to less than 27 million.
The Census Bureau report also shows that the number of people without insurance actually went down in 2007 compared to the previous year — from 47 million to 45.65 million — while the number with insurance rose from 249.8 million to 253.4 million. The next Census Bureau report disclosing health insurance data, with 2008 numbers, is scheduled to be released in August, and could figure in the healthcare reform debate.
Part of the apparent over-counting of the uninsured in the Census data is likely due to a serious undercounting of Medicaid enrollees. While the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported Medicaid enrollment of 51 million in 2002, the Census reported only 33 million, a difference of 18 million people. This trend continues in 2003 with a .7 percentage point increase in Medicaid enrollment by the Census Bureau, putting that number at 35 million, but CMS reports 53 million enrollees. This discrepancy is, to say the least, problematic.
So what can we say about this number, that seems to have been accepted on face value without any critical analysis.
The Census Bureau data is misleading. The Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey (CPS) is a misleading measure of those who lack health insurance in America and an imprecise tool for analyzing the dimensions of the problem. Analysis of data from earlier Census Bureau and other government reports shows that roughly 7 million are illegal immigrants; roughly 9 million are persons on Medicaid; 3.5 million are persons already eligible for government health programs; and approximately 20 million have, or live, in families with incomes greater than twice the federal poverty level, or $41,300 for a family of four.
Most of the uninsured are in and out of health coverage. The professional literature also shows that, overwhelmingly, the vast majority of the uninsured are persons who are in and out of coverage, largely as a result of job changes. Only a small number of the uninsured are chronically uninsured. For most of the uninsured, the problem is fixable if policymakers simply take steps to make health insurance portable, so the insurance policy sticks to the person, not the job.
Current Federal Tax Policy Fuels Uninsurance. A substantial portion of uninsured Americans are not poor but rather middle-class working Americans who are forced to face a major tax penalty, resulting in premium increases of 40 to 50 percent, if they do not obtain health insurance through the place of work. For millions of Americans without job based health insurance, both the tax policy, and the excessive regulatory burden on health insurance in the states, prices families out of coverage. Current federal tax policy then unnecessarily drives millions into the ranks of the uninsured. (Source)
Well, looks like the the devil came to collect his booty, one named Ted “the Lion” Kennedy”. Ole Ted’s pact with the devil came in the form of trying to ruin a country founded on Christian principles and morality. Ted list of crimes are numerous and some yet to be accounted for. The Lady in the Lake incident, then immigration, here’s the details as the BNP sees it.
As chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Immigration, Senator Kennedy had chief oversight responsibility for the Immigration and Naturalization Service, which he allowed to degenerate into one of the most ineffective agencies in the Federal Government.
He was the chief sponsor of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 which abolished the national-origin quotas that had been in place in the United States since the Immigration Act of 1924.
During debate on the Senate floor, Kennedy, speaking of the effects of the act, said, “First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same…. Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset…. Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia…. In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think…. The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs.”
Of course, precisely the opposite happened, and the Act resulted in a flood of new immigration from non-European nations that changed the ethnic make-up of the United States. Immigration doubled between 1965 and 1970 and doubled again between 1970 and 1990. European origin Americans have dropped as a percentage of the American population from nearly 90 percent to the low 60 percent of today. At current immigration rates, European Americans are on course to become an absolute minority in their country within twenty years.
Despite the demographic change which proved Kennedy was a bare faced liar, he shamelessly proceeded to foster a further set of laws which actually encouraged the Third World invasion of America. He was behind the Refugee Act of 1980, and a major proponent of the fraud-ridden 1986 immigration amnesty. In both cases, he deliberately lied in public about the number of “immigrants” who would exploit the legislation, claiming that the effects would be minor.
In reality, about 2.7 million illegals qualified for American citizenship, one of the single largest population additions in American history, and the lure of amnesty drew a further five million illegals into the country.
Kennedy also promoted his anti-white legislation without any regard to the cost in administrative and financial terms. His 1980 Refugee Act created a massive taxpayer-funded bureaucracy which today, according to its own figures, works through at least 100,000 fake asylum applications each year, in addition to the ‘genuine’ ones.
The Seasonal Agricultural Worker (SAW) amnesty, promoted by Kennedy, saw fraud rates as high as 70 percent. The number of illegals who used the amnesty to gain access to America was estimated to be at least three times the number of those who qualified given the size of that country’s agricultural labour force.
His personal life was as appalling as his political career. Time magazine once described Kennedy as “Palm Beach boozer, lout and tabloid grotesque” while Newsweek said Kennedy was “the living symbol of the family flaws.”
Kennedy himself later acknowledged, “I went through a lot of difficult times over a period in my life where [drinking] may have been somewhat of a factor or force.” Twice he was involved in drunken incidents in Washington restaurants to which police were called, with one involving physical contact with a waitress.
His most infamous personal moment came in July 1969 when he was on Martha’s Vineyard’s Chappaquiddick Island at a party for the “Boiler Room Girls”, a group of young women who had worked on his brother Robert’s presidential campaign the year before.
Kennedy left the party with one of the women, 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne. He drove his car off the Dike Bridge into the Poucha Pond inlet. Kennedy escaped the overturned vehicle and swam to safety, but Kopechne died in the car. Kennedy left the scene and did not call authorities until after Kopechne’s body was discovered the following day.
Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and was given a sentence of two months in jail, suspended. The most likely explanation for his behaviour was that he was severely under the influence of drugs or alcohol and did not want his blood tested so soon after the incident, leaving the unfortunate young woman to drown. Kennedy denied the allegations, which dogged his failed 1980 presidential election challenge against incumbent Jimmy Carter.
Edward Kennedy will go down in the annals of history as one of the greatest traitors America has ever produced, due to his attempts to utterly destroy the country of his birth.
I caught a glimpse of that American hatin Obama tripe descending the stairs of Air Force One. Why oh, why did these fools elect this obama fool and his first animal to our highest office. If this American hatin animal is going to be first lady, she needs to act like it and please stop comparing this ugly ass woman to Jackie’O. There is none, never will be. Here is Jackie looking beautiful and cheerful as always. Jackie O’ new her role and filled it perfectly, even in the face of adversity, she showed class and integrity, unlike her scumbag husband.
Now here is the polar opposite or the devil as I like to call it, crawling to the ground, God I despise this woman and her thin skinned scumbag husband. Excuse me I need to go puke!
The coons over at many of the liberal blogs are a raising a real stink over their messiah’s health care abomination. I think what bothers me the most about this clown and chump in charge is that he feels the country should give him whatever he asks for. This idiot calls himself a constitutional lawyer, he must have slept through most of the courses or smoked dope in his dorm, I’m sure the latter is true. This make us afraid mess has been tried before, it failed then and it will fail again. This fools black following will fall by the wayside if you send up a C-130 gunship and make an example of say the City of Atlanta, I’ll call that a good start. Here are few comments from the victim crowd and some harbingers to come if this retarded legislation passes.
“field–anything happens to Obama and all fucking HELL will break loose. I’m dead serious. I can’t even imagine how lost we would be, then.”
and….
“We all knew this was not about the Health Care Bill! as African American’s we should know by now, how RACISM look’s! and if we don’t, we better LEARN and learn fast!
Now my job is to WATCH and PRAY!! so I knew this stuff was going to happpen! sorry but, I am not SHOCKED!!
field why not show all the face’s of BLACK CONSERVATIVE’S/ they are all on TV in agreement with those so called Protester’s/ no, these people are a pack of WOLVE’S going after their Prey!! and the Prey is the President! “
Seriously, I’d be willing to bet that it never occurred to any of these dumb-azzes (the nicest word I can think of at the moment) to read HR3200 for themselves. No, there is no need because Obama — The Great Black Hope has their best interest at heart. He is their God and they would be lost without him…..
Anyway for those who are interested you can read the bill here
Here are some of the chilling highlights outlined by Larry Schweikart at Family Matters.org
Pg 22 of the HC Bill mandates the Government will audit books of all employers that self insure. Can you imagine what that will do to small businesses? Every one will abandon “self insurance” and go on Government insurance. So when Obama says that there will still be private health care, it’s simply a lie: this mandate will force employers to abandon their private plans. (I’m not entirely sure if by self-insured they mean the “employer” or a “bona-fide health insurance co”. If its the former than this isn’t so bad but if it’s the latter– whew that’s scary)
Pg 30 Sec 123 of HC bill – a Government committee (good luck with that!) will decide what treatments/benefits a person may receive.
Pg 29 lines 4-16 in the HC bill – YOUR HEALTHCARE WILL BE RATIONED! (Of course, just like in Canada, and Great Britain — hell, even here. But I’m more comfortable having an insurance co. ration me and leave me with a choice to pay for it myself than the gov’t rationing me and leaving me NO CHOICE)
Pg 42 of HC Bill – The Health Choices Commissioner will choose your HC Benefits for you. You will have no choice!
PG 50 Section 152 in HC bill – HC will be provided to ALL non US citizens, illegal or otherwise. (Yes, I have a problem with that not because I lack compassion but because they are here ILLEGALLY)
Pg 58 HC Bill – Government will have real-time access to individual’s finances and a National ID Healthcard will be issued! (I had to double check that one myself and there it was Lines 5-13)
Pg 59 HC Bill lines 21-24 Government will have direct access to your bank accts for electronic funds transfer (This is indeed FISHY)
PG 65 Sec 164 is a payoff subsidized plan for retirees and their families in Unions & community organizations (read: ACORN). (That’s not abundantly clear but not entirely unbelievable)
Pg 72 Lines 8-14 Government will create an HC Exchange to bring private HC plans under Government control.
PG 84 Sec 203 HC bill – Government mandates ALL benefit packages for private HC plans in the Exchange.
PG 85 Line 7 HC Bill – Specifics of Benefit Levels for Plans = The Government will ration your Healthcare!
PG 91 Lines 4-7 HC Bill – Government mandates linguistic appropriate services. Example – Translation for illegal aliens.
Pg 95 HC Bill Lines 8-18 The Government will use groups, i.e. ACORN & Americorps, to sign up individuals for Government HC plan. (No big surprise)
PG 85 Line 7 HC Bill – Specifics of Benefit Levels for Plans. AARP members – your Health care WILL be rationed.
-PG 102 Lines 12-18 HC Bill – Medicaid Eligible Individuals will be automatically enrolled in Medicaid. No choice.
pg 124 lines 24-25 HC No company can sue Government on price fixing. No “judicial review” against Government Monopoly. (This is petrifying)
pg 127 Lines 1-16 HC Bill – Doctors/ AMA – The Government will tell YOU what you can earn.
Pg 145 Line 15-17 An Employer MUST auto enroll employees into public option plan. NO CHOICE. (Proof positive that President Obama is a liar!!!!)
Pg 126 Lines 22-25 Employers MUST pay for HC for part time employees AND their families. (Therefore employers will stop hiring part-timers– there goes making ends meet with a 2nd job)
Pg 149 Lines 16-24 ANY Employer with payroll $400k & above who does not provide public option pays 8% tax on all payroll. (This is how the government is going to strong arm us all into the public option)
pg 150 Lines 9-13 Businesses with payroll between $251k & $400k who don’t provide public option pay 2-6% tax on all payroll.
Pg 167 Lines 18-23 ANY individual who doesn’t have acceptable HC according to Government will be taxed 2.5% of income. (So…young and health folks who are capable of paying for their own preventative healthcare because they never get sick will pay more in taxes unless they have “acceptible” healthcare….smh)
Pg 170 Lines 1-3 HC Bill Any NONRESIDENT Alien is exempt from individual taxes. (Americans will pay.)
Pg 195 HC Bill -officers & employees of HC Admin (the GOVERNMENT) will have access to ALL Americans’ finances and personal records. (Well, they have this information anyway since we file income tax returns — so this isn’t so shocking)
PG 203 Line 14-15 HC – “The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax” Yes, it says that.
Pg 239 Line 14-24 HC Bill Government will reduce physician services for Medicaid. (This isn’t good news for Pookie & em or Big Mama)
Pg 241 Line 6-8 HC Bill – Doctors – doesn’t matter what specialty – will all be paid the same.
PG 253 Line 10-18 Government sets value of Doctor’s time, professional judgment, etc. Literally, value of humans.
PG 265 Sec 1131 Government mandates & controls productivity for private HC industries.
PG 268 Sec 1141 Federal Government regulates rental & purchase of power driven wheelchairs.
PG 272 SEC. 1145. TREATMENT OF CERTAIN CANCER HOSPITALS (I wonder if Micheal Moore will make a movie about it?)
Page 280 Sec 1151 The Government will penalize hospitals for what Government deems preventable readmissions.
Pg 298 Lines 9-11 Doctors who treat a patient during initial admission that results in a readmission – Government will penalize you.
Pg 317 L 13-20 OMG!! PROHIBITION on ownership/investment. Government tells Doctors what/how much they can own.
Pg 317-318 lines 21-25,1-3 PROHIBITION on expansion – Government will mandate hospitals cannot expand.
pg 321 2-13 Hospitals have opportunity to apply for exception BUT community input required. Can u say ACORN?!
Pg335 L 16-25 Pg 336-339 – Government mandates establishment of outcome-based measures which of course forces health care rationing.
Pg 341 Lines 3-9 Government has authority to disqualify Medicare Adv Plans, HMOs, etc., forcing people into Government plan.
Pg 354 Sec 1177 – Government will RESTRICT enrollment of Special needs people! (Why is that? Are Special needs people less valuable as human beings? Scary stuff)
Pg 379 Sec 1191 Government creates more bureaucracy – Telehealth Advisory Committee. HC by phone.
PG 425 Lines 4-12 Government mandates Advance Care Planning Consultations. Think Senior Citizens end of life prodding. (Sounds like Richard Lamms (D) — Duty to Die crap)
Pg 425 Lines 17-19 Government will instruct & consult regarding living wills, durable powers of attorney. Mandatory!
PG 425 Lines 22-25, 426 Lines 1-3 Government provides approved list of end of life resources, guiding you in how to die.
PG 427 Lines 15-24 Government mandates program for orders for end of life. The Government has a say in how your life ends.
Pg 429 Lines 1-9 An “advanced care planning consultant” will be used frequently as patients’ health deteriorates.
PG 429 Lines 10-12 “advanced care consultation” may include an ORDER for end of life plans. AN ORDER from the Government to end a life! (So does this mean that the government gives instruction on pulling the plug and NOT YOUR LOVED ONES?)
Pg 429 Lines 13-25 – The Government will specify which Doctors can write an end of life order.
PG 430 Lines 11-15 The Government will decide what level of treatment you will have at end of life.
Pg 469 – Community Based Home Medical Services/Non profit orgs.
Page 472 Lines 14-17 PAYMENT TO COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION. 1 monthly payment to a community-based organization. (Like Acorn?)
PG 489 Sec 1308 The Government will cover Marriage & Family therapy. Which means they will insert Government into our marriages.
Pg 494-498 Government will cover Mental Health Services including defining, creating, rationing those services. You’d better speak up now before you are on the “advanced care consultation” list.
I wonder if Obama’s supporter will still be singing his praises if this abominable bill comes to fruition and they are negatively effected? Yes, nothing can separate the Obamabots from the love of their “savior”…..dumbazzes, will still find a way to blame “racist white republicans”.
Boy these plantation Negroes are out of control since a blackish type individual occupies the White House. I’ve had several phone calls from my wife brain dead family about the officers handling of this piece of shit in Cambridge. These fool call all enraged, just as there Democrat masters demand, but these low country fools can’t articulate why they are defending this fool. I believe they are living vicariously through this clown. The coons at Harvard aren’t worth a dime, most of these animals are there because of affirmative action. Can you imagine if ole skip had taken this attitude with the Chinese authorities, that black fool got sense and knew better than to challenge them. Fuck Obama and the 10 percent coons in America, these low lives don’t represent me.
The Self Described Blackest Man On The Internet Calls Out “Skip” Gates On His High Profile “Bitch-Assness” (my words not his)
Blogger under the alias Denmark Vesey who describes himself as “the blackest man on the internet” says the following regarding Professor Gates:
“If you call yourself “Skip”,
If you marry a woman who looks like Edith Bunker,
If your claim to fame is to have been allowed to work at Harvard,
If you are known as a preeminent black scholar and writer but no black people can quote you,
If you identify yourself as “Half-white”,
If you identify your children as “Half-white”,
If you are proud of the fact you live in a “white” neighborhood,
If when you move into a new house you report to the local precinct to introduce yourself to the police …The first time a police officer upsets you – You Cannot Yell “It’s Because I’m A Black Man In America!”
No. It is because you are a Plantation Negro in a white neighborhood.”
Dang….I couldn’t have said it better myself. He goes on to say in comments and this is just beautiful….
“Gates is making a bitch move by implying his actions had nothing to do with what happened and that it was strictly a function of his skin color.Ya’ll Plantation Negros still think “blackness” is a game of mindless group identity victim politics. When bad shit happens “Itz Cuz Iz Bwak!”
This posts is from a fellow blogger that I follow quite closely, this is really sad and immeasurable pathetic, but we as conservative blacks have to hold the line against the perceived victimization and grievance of blacks who voted for this wanna be messiah. Blacks should feel ashamed, but they are not, because many of them believe as Obama do, they are owed something by this country. Oh how I wish we could rid ourselves of this thin-skinned loser masquerading as Commander and Chief of this country. I believe a ultimate solution to preserving out American tradition and values needs brought to the front and executed with prejudice. Our Russian speaking Jewish friends may need to be brought into this conflict given resources they possess. The American way life can not be sacrificed because a few million blacks feel they need symbol to feel good about themselves. Their self-esteem issues will have to wait, perhaps forever, because this country cannot afford the misery they will impose on this country.
I received two rather disturbing emails this morning from two of my very good friends. The first one said:
“If you are going to talk about negative SHIT about my President. Then take me off your email list.Thank you and I still love You,
S***** W*****”
A President Barack Obama Supporter” — she wasn’t kidding.
the second said:
“Dag, Robin I can’t understand why you are so anti black. Did you get dropped on your head when you was a baby? Lol”– the “lol” aside he wasn’t kidding either. (This was written in response to a joke I made about Barack Obama not being present at Michael Jackson’s funeral because he couldn’t think of a way to blame it on George Bush–well I thought it was funny)
I’ve tried at length to explain why I feel the way that I do to my friends to no avail. How I can’t reconcile his policy with my faith. How I feel that his policy will negatively impact this country and therefore Black folks will necessarily negatively impact Black folks since we are Americans too. A fellow blogger Malcolm Kirkpatrick commented that “Obama worship is self-love” and it occurred to me that if to those who KNOW me feel that I hate myself because I don’t support Obama then to them to love Barack Obama is to love themselves…that’s sick on so many different levels. However, Digital Publius brilliantly deconstructs this curious phenomena that is at play in my world as my friends have fallen into the Obama snare he writes:
The truth is indeed out there, if you are inclined towards it, it can be found. The problem is not that the truth is or is not knowable, but rather that it is so often ignored when it conflicts with ones deeply held ideologies. This is the case often, when you endeavor to hold civil discourse with those that lean more towards their ideologies than reality and who are committed to remaking the world into a reflection of those ideologies despite the truth. This is how I would define the average liberal.
Interestingly enough, not all Democrats are liberals. Many of the people who vote Democrat that I know, share the same conservative values that I proudly trumpet. Unfortunately; there is a disconnect, they can’t see that when they support the Democratic party for the social issues they may believe to be virtuous, you become a de facto liberal because you cannot support the party of affirmative action without supporting the unGodly party of abortion on demand and Gay marriage.
Where your average liberal is often favorably disposed towards irrational beliefs and doctrines of devils, your average Democrat is simply too lazy or racist to look into the truth as they have made up their minds based on those aforementioned ideologies. Democrats however can on occasion be reached, yours truly would be an example of that particular truth. Democrats when confronted with the proof they are often to lazy to look into themselves, will on occasion admit that they were making a grave error when supporting a character like Barney Franks. They even sometimes, like me, become Ex-Democrats. A liberal never ever sees beyond the unicorns President Obama promised him he would have to ride around the autonomous collectives we will all live and work on.
For the liberals out there I’m joking about the President promising literal unicorns, I wish I could say that his actions thus far hadn’t made the autonomous collectives look so likely though.
As for racism, without it there would be no Democratic party. Racism drives the democratic party. You have the liberal Democrat, (White or Black) who is perhaps the most racist human being on earth who is so convinced of the inferiority of the minorities in America (even when he is one) he is compelled to help them by lowering standards so they can compete with their betters. This of course ends when it comes to rubber meeting the road programs like school vouchers where it would put their little Suzy in direct contact with a child from a family really seeking to improve that child’s lot by allowing them to contend on an even playing field, can’t have that.
Then you have the Original Democrats, these are folks that know the origin of the Democratic party. They know that it was the Democrats who started the Klu Klux Klan, with the express purpose of terrorizing black voters and to keep them from voting for the party that freed them. The O.D.s are the ones that still remember it was the Democrats during the civil rights movement that turned on the fire hoses and loosed the dogs on the civil rights activists in the 50s and 60s. It was the Democrats that raised the Confederate battle flag over all the municipal buildings in the south.
The O.D.s know that the party simply changed tactics when they lost the civil rights struggle, instead of beating and lynching people, they began to implement programs that stemmed the tide of independent minority progress both socially and economically, while appearing to be the party of the black man. Since we began to vote en masse for the democrats can we as the black community honestly say we are better off? With 70 percent of our children now being born out of wedlock and the highest teen pregnancy rate in the country? With our young men disproportionately represented in the nations jails and prisons and killing themselves in violent criminal activity in staggering numbers? This was not the case during my parents time nor was it the case when I was a kid in the 70’s when the liberal programs were just getting started, we are only now really seeing the bitter harvests that those programs are yielding.
Then you have the Black Democrat who if he is an elected official just may fall under the liberal umbrella depending on the level of indoctrination he fell victim to, I think our President falls under this category. The other elected official category is the Black Democrat who knows these programs are no good for the black community but he has sold himself out to the O.D.s for special favors. These are the real house negroes in the black community and they are represented in large numbers.
The Black Democrats are ofttimes virulently racist as well, so racist in fact that they do not think themselves capable of racism. I have heard such nonsensical rhetoric as, it is impossible for the black man to be racist because we don’t have the power to impose our racism institutionally. Let that be a comfort to you white folks if your Beamer stalls out on the corner of Mack and Bewick in Detroit and you are not there buying drugs.
The Black Democrat votes for the party primarily because they believe the Republican party is the party of white folks. The Democratic party has worked tirelessly to foster that belief and the Republican party has done little to combat that perception, despite a rich history of being the true party of equality.
Democrats can sometimes be reached with facts, liberals are completely indifferent to them, unless of course in those rare occasions where those facts have the virtue of agreeing with their varying realities.
I wrote an article last election day entitled, “The Bush Economy and the Politics of Ignorance”, which illustrated the unfortunate propensity liberals and democrats have to ignore empiricism in favor of rhetoric, emotionalism and racism if you haven’t read it you may find it worthy of your attention, I do hope everyone who voted democrat in that election reads it, as well as an article I wrote called, “Rahm and Hegel Sittin’ in a Tree K.I.S.S.I.N.G.” which includes a timeline of President Bush’s statements in warning of the then coming financial crisis and his attempts to stave it off. These articles and the following C-Span video offer enough evidence of the culpability of the Democrats in the collapse of Fannie and Freddie which triggered this economic malaise that Obama’s policies are only deepening.
It is time to stop calling this financial crisis the Bush economy and place it at the feet of those who truly are responsible. Democratic voters wake up! Liberals, well, take another Percocet.
Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart. Psalm 51: 6 (Source) – emphasis added
Digital Publius I wanna be like you when I grow up! Seriously he broke this down to the bone grissle. If my beloved friends don’t understand now after his ever so succinct dissertation then I’ll just have to give them over to their democrat, liberal or both reprobate minds.
Yesterday, President Obama held a town hall event in order to “sell his health care message to the public” during Congress’ July 4th recess. However, worried that the President cannot answer tough questions about his plan for health care reform, White House officials carefully screened each member of the audience in attendance and each question asked.
This time, the mainstream media took note, even grilling White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs on the choreographed spectacle. In fact, veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas, not known as a conservative sympathizer, even lamented:
“I’m not saying there has never been managed news before, but this is carried to fare-thee-well–for the town halls, for the press conferences. It’s blatant. They don’t give a d–n if you know it or not. They ought to be hanging their heads in shame.” She added: “What the h-ll do they think we are, puppets?”
The AP reported: “Some of Obama’s questioners Wednesday were from friendly sources, including a member of the Service Employees International Union and a member of Health Care for America Now, which organized a Capitol Hill rally last week calling for an overhaul. White House aides selected other questions submitted by people on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.”
With the elaborate choreography President Obama managed to talk a good talk, despite his rhetoric not matching his plans. For example he said: “We need a permanent solution that when you lose your job, or change jobs, you can still keep your health insurance.” Absolutely. Do you lose your car or life insurance when you change your job? Of course not. The same should be true for your most important coverage: health insurance.
Heritage’s Bob Moffit, at a recent Congressional hearing, testified that “Americans need portability. If we had portability in health insurance that was tied to the person and not where they worked, the numbers of the uninsured would drop dramatically.“ Unfortunately, the President’s plan doesn’t offer this portability. Obama went on to deliver another one of his prized pieces of health care rhetoric: “If [private insurance] is such a great deal, why are [insurers] so concerned about government competing with private plans?”
The President has been searching for the logic on this one, and luckily it’s easy to explain. There’s no real competition when the Referee making the rules is also playing the game; it’s a fixed competition. Congress’ ability to pay doctors and other providers less will hide the true cost of the public plan. Undercutting private insurance will drive enrollment to the public plan. That’s not competition on a level playing field.
While bemoaning that Congress moves slowly on legislation, he offered this analysis of our Constitutional government three days before the 4th of July, saying: “Part of that is the way the Constitution is designed. We don’t have coups [de’tat] or governments collapsing. The disadvantage is it’s hard for us to make great, big, bold steps.”
At Heritage, we tend to think that one of the more important aspects of the Constitution is the very fact that it is so difficult to take “great, big, bold steps.” Perhaps, on America’s upcoming 233rd birthday, this is a quaint idea. Some still tend to agree with us, however. The point is health care reform doesn’t need to be so radical that the Constitution holds it back. There are other ways to fix health care that won’t intrude into our daily lives or our personal choices.
Nevertheless, the President is going to ask you to hold his hand and jump off the cliff with him, saying: “We’re in one of those rare moments where everybody is ready to move into the future. We just can’t be scared.” Frankly, when a plan is so big, so intrusive and so expensive to every American’s life that the President feels the Constitution might hinder its approval, you should be scared.
Yes Helen, Puppets. Indeed!
Governor Sanford weakness has plagued mankind for centuries, It even got the best of David, but we know we are all given to temptations and we must whole steadfast against the agents of lust and evil who seek to draw us away from our creator. I know Sanfords plea for forgiveness for his failing was genuine and honest and we must make every effort to pray and ask God to show him mercy and compassion in his time of need, we all suffer from certain failings and none are righteous, no not one. I wish Governor Sanford the best and hope that he can atone for his failings to his wife one day, although that will take some time, but let time have its time to heal. I feel his actions has cost hima great deal in political capital for future offices, but he has gained humility. I can see the left wing nutcases marshalling there forces to remove Sanford from office, I hope he stands strong against the agents of evil for the Obama administration, aka, the worse loser in presidential history. God Bless You Governor!
Prior to resurfacing Wednesday, Mr. Sanford had last been seen leaving the governor’s mansion in his security guard’s sport-utility vehicle last Thursday. After initially refusing to say where the governor had gone, his office issued a statement Monday saying that he was hiking an undisclosed section of the Appalachian Trail.
During a news conference in which he paused several times to compose himself, the governor said he’d been unfaithful to his wife.
People close to the governor said Wednesday that members of his staff only learned that he had been in Argentina a few hours before the news conference. They were told that the governor never went to the Appalachian Mountains after an unnamed friend of the governor who picked him up at the Atlanta airport called Mr. Sanford’s chief of staff, Scott English, according to a person familiar with the situation.
During the news conference and in a written statement, Mr. Sanford — who in the past has emphasized his Christian faith and absolute moral values — reiterated that neither he nor his staff intentionally misled the public about his whereabouts. “At no time did anyone on my staff intentionally relay false information to other state officials or the public at large,” he said. “What they’ve said over the past two days they believed to be true, and I’m sorry to them for putting them in this position.”
State Sen. Luke Rankin, a fellow Republican who has occasionally clashed with Mr. Sanford, said he appreciated the governor’s “candor and forthrightness now, after this state of chaos.” Mr. Rankin said he hoped the governor would emerge chastened from the episode. “Perhaps there will be some growth from this.”
